Many photographers are claiming that they are photojournalist. Even if they don’t know what makes a photojournalist different from a photographer.
Those who own cameras, should know how do these two differ from each other before claiming what they are. We’d like to share to you below a blog entry Mark M. Hancock posted on his Blogsopt site.
What is a photojournalist?
A journalist tells stories. A photographer takes pictures of nouns (people, places and things). A photojournalist takes the best of both and locks it into the most powerful medium available - a single frozen image.
Photojournalists capture “verbs.” This sounds simple, but a room of professional photographers was dumbfounded by this realization. Even after a full-length lecture with documentation and visual evidence, half of the photographers still had no clue what the difference was. [read on]

Almost everyone in Davao wants to see what’s inside the Carmelite church in Lanang. Well, aside from hearing the mass there, some are really curious if what’s inside in the church. Only few could attend mass in this church because of its limited schedule.
In this image, it’s shot with Canon 400D using the kit lens. It looks like Ruby Thursday More used a tripad to capture the aisle. Perfect execution.
The colors of the ceiling and the bench and the empty space, which is the aisle, leads your eye straight to the altar. The diagonal lines in the middle provide the direction right to the center of the image. The lighting is perfect. For more photos of the Carmelite Church, click here.

Moro Islamic Liberation Front fighters leave their shoes and sandals as they pray inside the mosque of Imam Al-Kanul, the 69-year-old leader killed along with 14 Philippine Marines and five rebels in Barangay Guinanta, Al-Barkah, Basilan last July 10. The beheading of 10 of the 14 Marines and the killing of the Imam is being investigated by a joint fact-finding team composed of government and MILF representatives. Mindanews Photo by Froilan Gallardo
COMMENT: This is a nice photo. The composition is great, the quality of light adds drama to the photo. However it is not clear in the photo if they are really MILF, with the absence some symbols that could represent the MILF. But the caption will just tell the story.
